The foundation was established in July 2016 and was registered on the 12 January 2017 as a Non-profit Organization under the Department of Social Development. Its registration number is 183-270 NPO; it is also registered as a Public Benefit Organization (PBO). I AM A DREAMER FOUNDATION is a child-focused initiative that was founded by four community-minded youth as a response to increasing number of (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) OVCs. The foundation was founded by Mr. Mpakanyane Moeketsi Simon (BA Soc. Work Degree, Diploma in Leadership and Management) and Mr. Sebothome Katlego (Cert. in Gender Based Violence, Cert. Money Skills, Peoples skills, entrepreneur skills and an ambassador of Gender Based Violence, Health and Occupation Certificate) with the assistance of Miss Sebothome Keotshepile and Kgololosego Mogapi. The vision of the foundation caught the interest of other youth from the community who later joined us.

We pro‐actively select children and community members facing the most significant barriers to future success. Using a rigorous process, validated by research as effective for identifying children and family members most at risk, we select directly from both schools, community and the foster care system. I Am A Dreamer Foundation has a unique ability to establish relationships with children and community members who are the hardest to reach. And we maintain those relationships. We provide selected beneficiaries with intensive, individualized guidance from full‐time, highly trained mentors and administrators (Friends) for years, through graduation ‐ no matter what.
I Am A Dreamer Foundation is located in Freedom Park, Rustenburg, North West Province in South Africa. There are over 580 OVCs and 300 Adults registered under our programs based on the statistics of March 2022 and the registration is still continuing.
